Showcasing Innovation in the Midlands
This April, Freeater had the incredible opportunity to take part in the very first Momentum Valley event, held at the Nottingham Conference Centre. The competition was designed to shine a light on the Midlands’ most innovative and impactful businesses, bringing together inspiring entrepreneurs, changemakers, and an audience of over 400 people.
From Semi-Finals to Finalist
Freeater was one of 13 semi-finalists invited to the stage to deliver a rapid-fire three-minute pitch. It was a challenge to capture the essence of what we do in such a short window, but it was also exciting, and the audience responded with enthusiasm. After all the semi-final pitches were complete, the live audience voted, and we were delighted to be selected as one of just three businesses to go through to the final.
Our Eight-Minute Pitch
In the final round, we delivered an extended eight-minute presentation, sharing Freeater’s journey, vision, and the impact we want to make. Standing on that stage and connecting with such a receptive audience was both humbling and energising. While one overall winner was chosen, we were proud to stand in the top three. Reaching the final was an achievement in itself and reinforced the importance of the mission we are pursuing.
Engaging with the Community
Beyond the pitches, Freeater also hosted a stand in the conference atrium. This gave us the chance to showcase our branding and connect directly with attendees throughout the day. Some of the most meaningful moments came from these conversations, people shared their own experiences of restrictions, the challenges they face, and their excitement about what Freeater is building. Hearing that our mission resonated so strongly with them was incredibly motivating.
A Celebration of Innovation and Resilience
Momentum Valley wasn’t just about competition. It was about community, innovation, and resilience. For Freeater, it was a platform to share our message with hundreds of people, connect with new supporters, and gain valuable insights from fellow entrepreneurs across the Midlands. The atmosphere of encouragement and collaboration made the event a celebration of ideas as much as a contest.
Looking Ahead
We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the organisers of Momentum Valley for creating such a unique and supportive platform, and to everyone who voted, supported, or came to talk with us during the day. Your encouragement and feedback mean so much as we continue to grow. This is just the beginning. Freeater is excited to keep building momentum, championing inclusion, and creating solutions that make food and dining more accessible for communities everywhere.
