Freeater founder and author Kate Alderson took to the stage at Ideas Fest 2026 before hosting her first book signing for Alex and the Feel Good Foods.
The two day festival marked two exciting milestones for Freeater and our growing community.
Kate took to the stage to speak about backing your own vision and building something others might not see yet, sharing experiences from the journey of building Freeater.
Whenever speaking, Kate loves to ask for a show of hands from anyone living with a food allergy, coeliac disease or another dietary need, a simple way of showing just how many people in the room are navigating dietary restrictions and, importantly, that they’re not alone.

At Ideas Fest, one of those hands went up right in front of the camera as the moment was captured, making the photo a particularly fitting reminder of exactly who Freeater is being built for.
Ideas Fest also became the setting for Kate’s first ever book signing since publishing Alex and the Feel Good Foods.
The children’s book was created to help young readers better understand food allergies, coeliac disease and dietary differences through a story centred around inclusion and empathy.
Meeting readers, signing copies and sharing the story behind the book made it a particularly special milestone.

From conversations on stage to conversations over the book, Ideas Fest 2026 was an exciting couple of days for Freeater and there’s plenty more to come. 💚
