Freeater is Finalist in the Midlands Finals for Graduate Startup of The Year

Shortlisted for Midlands Graduate Startup of the Year 🎉

We’re proud to share that Freeater that we are finalists for Midlands Graduate Startup of the Year at the UK StartUp Awards 2026. Check it out here.

From a personal moment to a bigger mission

Freeater started with a moment that many people with dietary needs will recognise.

What should have been a simple family meal turned stressful when my dad had to call 15 restaurants just to find somewhere he could eat safely. That experience sparked a bigger mission: to make eating out and food shopping easier, clearer, and more inclusive.

Freeater exists to help people eat with confidence, by showing what you can eat, not what you can’t.

Built alongside a Master’s degree

Freeater was founded just before I began my Master’s.

Alongside building the business, I completed my MSc in Management, graduating with Distinction and being awarded Top Student.

Balancing both wasn’t easy, but it reflects exactly what Freeater is about: persistence, purpose, and building something that truly matters.

Why this recognition matters

This shortlist is judged by industry experts and celebrates startups with real impact and potential. Being recognised in the Midlands makes it even more meaningful, it’s where this journey began.

What’s next

Regional winners go on to the national final at Ideas Fest later this year and we’re aiming to be there.

But more importantly, we’ll keep building a platform and community where no one has to question whether they’ll be able to eat.

Together, we eat with confidence.
