Freeater Shopping launches on 30th September 2026, helping you check food against your allergies, coeliac disease and dietary needs.
More than two years after we started researching the challenges people face around food, Freeater is expanding from eating out into shopping.
Scan a product's ingredients and Freeater checks them against your personalised dietary profile, helping you find the information that matters to you faster.
Freeater supports a wide range of food allergies and dietary needs, with the ability to manage multiple requirements at once.
Your profile can also be customised to reflect how you manage your dietary needs and level of risk.
The result? A product check that's based on you, rather than a generic list of allergens.

Freeater Shopping is designed to make everyday ingredient checking quicker and easier.
It can help you:
It isn't there to replace your checks. It's a convenient helping hand and another layer of support.

We believe eating well with dietary needs shouldn't be an afterthought.
Freeater Shopping includes a nutritional overview with a simple traffic-light system, helping you understand key nutritional information at a glance without another label to decipher.

Your scan history keeps previously checked products together, making it easy to return to something you've scanned before.
More than two years in the making.
Freeater started with research in the summer of 2024.
We spoke to people with food allergies, coeliac disease and dietary needs before deciding what to build. Since then, we've tested different approaches, technologies and designs, learning from what worked and what didn't.
Most importantly, we've tested with you.
Your experiences and feedback have helped shape what we're launching today. Our nutritionist has also been closely involved throughout development, alongside consultation with expertise across food, allergies and dietary needs.
The launch isn't the end of that process. We'll keep listening and improving as you use it.

We wanted Freeater Shopping available ahead of Natasha's Day and Anaphylaxis Awareness Week, 1-7th October 2026.
Natasha's Law brought an important change to food labelling, requiring full ingredient and allergen labelling on foods prepacked for direct sale. We wanted this launch to recognise that progress and celebrate continued innovation that helps people make more informed food choices.
This year's Anaphylaxis Awareness Week theme is “A sense of belonging.”
Greater food confidence can support that sense of belonging, whether that's shopping independently, travelling, starting university or simply choosing food alongside everyone else.

Freeater Shopping is an additional layer of support, not a replacement for checking the product yourself.
Technology can make mistakes, recipes, packaging and ingredients can change.
If Freeater identifies a product as suitable for your dietary profile, always double-check the physical packaging and current ingredient and allergen information before consuming it.
From eating out to shopping, we're building Freeater around one goal: helping people eat with confidence.
