Built for the 'free from' community

How we're building Freeater

Freeater is built to remove the uncertainty around food. For people navigating allergies, intolerances, and dietary needs, everyday decisions often rely on guesswork, checking menus in advance, asking questions at the table, and hoping for the best. We’re here to change that. Freeater gives you the clarity to make informed decisions about food, whether you’re eating out, shopping, or travelling. Built from lived experience and shaped with our community, the platform brings together personalised tools, clearer information from businesses, and real-world experiences from people who understand, so you can make decisions with confidence, not doubt. Food should feel safe, social, and empowering. So you can eat with confidence.

A note from the Freeater Team

Freeater is being built by people who understand how overwhelming navigating food can feel. Everything we create is guided by care, transparency and the voices of the community we are building alongside. We are here to listen, learn and grow the platform responsibly. Our shared goal is to help more people eat with confidence.

Inspiration Behind Freeater

Meet my Dad:
Having a gluten intolerance and being vegetarian, he is the driving force behind the idea of Freeater from seeing the struggles he faces on a daily basis managing his dietary restriction, but he is not alone. Many of my family members have dietary restrictions including my gran who is lactose intolerant and my uncle who was coeliac. Join them in the community today.

Freeater started because of experiences in my own family. If you believe everyone should be able to eat with confidence, you can support our work here.

Meet The Team

Kate Alderson

Founder and CEO

Freeater began by wanting to make a difference to my family and friends. I grew up vegetarian myself. Largely inspired by seeing the daily struggles of my dad (gluten intolerant and vegetarian), (pictured above). Along with my grandma (lactose intolerant), uncle (coeliac) and friends (severe food allergies). I'm passionate about helping everyone to be able to eat with more confidence at the table. Whatever their dietary profile.

Former founder of ‘Fine Art Kate’ with international clients and exhibited in the Wales Contemporary. Studied at both Cambridge & Loughborough Uni, BArch (Hons) DPS, MSt (Cam) and MSc Management (Distinction).

Marketing Intern

I’ve always been really interested in how food, lifestyle, and social experiences all connect, especially when it comes to eating out and feeling included. Seeing how restrictive or stressful food choices can become for people with allergies or dietary requirements made me want to be part of something that actually improves that experience.

I’m currently in my final year studying Media and Communications at Loughborough University, with a strong interest in digital marketing, content creation, and building communities online. Joining Freeater felt like a great opportunity to combine that with something that has real impact.

Nutritional Advisor

I have always felt that food should bring comfort and connection. Living with allergies or dietary needs often means second-guessing every bite, and I believe no one should have to live with that constant worry. Joining Freeater drives my passion to be part of creating a food culture where everyone can enjoy eating with confidence.

Graduated with a BSc in Nutrition and Medical Sciences from UCL, with a strong interest in dietary management of allergies and food intolerances.
